What's being tested this year (2008-09): As usual, there is conflicting information from KSDE. The manual says the below listed assessments are to be done this year. The testing window document indicates testing in K-8 for Reading and Math, Science in 4 and 7, and Writing in 5, 8. No History/Govt. was listed on this document. I emailed the state and was told the manual is wrong. There will NOT be a History/Govt. assessment given this year.
For a student in grade:
3 5 indicators Reading 5 indicators Mathematics
4 5 indicators Reading 5 indicators Mathematics 5 indicators Science
5 5 indicators Reading 5 indicators Mathematics 5 indicators Writing
6 5 indicators Reading 5 indicators Mathematics 5 indicators History-Government
7 5 indicators Reading 5 indicators Mathematics 5 indicators Science
8 5 indicators Reading 5 indicators Mathematics 5 indicators History-Government 5 indicators Writing
2008 – Cohort Year High School
Opportunity to Learn (OTL) (See appendix.)
5 indicators Reading
5 indicators Mathematics
5 indicators History-Government
5 indicators Science
5 indicators Writing
Note:
Students must be assessed based on their grade level. (Students must be assigned a grade level for Management Information System (MIS) purposes. The state assessments given to the student must match their MIS grade level assignment.). The sooner this information is submitted by your district the sooner you can access the information on CETE to choose and teach indicators for this year.
